IAR S.A. Brașov is a traditional aeronautical company with deep roots in aviation history, its activity beginning as early as 1925.
Re-established after 1968, it mainly cooperated with Western companies, such as Aerospatiale and Turbomeca from France, as well as Britten Norman from Great Britain.
Since 1970, IAR S.A. Brașov became the sole helicopter manufacturer in Romania, both for military and civil helicopters.
Starting with 1978, it remained the only worldwide manufacturer of the military version of the Puma helicopter, whose license agreement was signed in 1974.
IAR S.A. Brașov has produced and delivered more than 360 Puma and Alouette III helicopters under Aerospatiale license (today integrated into Airbus Helicopters – formerly Eurocopter SAS), 830 gliders and motor gliders, as well as 136 light aircraft of its own design.
Currently, IAR S.A. Brașov is a specialized unit for maintenance, repair and overhaul of Puma and Alouette III helicopters.

IAR S.A. possesses the experience, certifications and full capability to develop and manufacture aeronautical products.
IAR S.A. Brașov develops modernization programs, performs periodic inspections, major repairs and ground and flight testing.
Services and Support
The company provides multiple after-sales services: maintenance, spare parts and equipment replacement, technical assistance and training for pilots and technicians.
It also provides “Follow-on-Support” programs for the Puma and Alouette III helicopter range.
Aeronautical Industry
IAR S.A. is involved in the manufacturing of assemblies, subassemblies and parts for various manufacturers in the global aeronautical industry, including aircraft structures and electrical harnesses.
For all its products, IAR S.A. provides multiple “after-sales” services in order to satisfy customer requirements in the field of maintenance, repairs and overhauls, spare parts, pilot and technician training, technical assistance and on-site service interventions.

IAR S.A. is an EASA Part 145 approved maintenance center and approved for manufacturing according to EASA Part 21.
